m and m's and popcorn.

This past Sunday, my husband and I went to see the movie Valentine’s Day. This is a rarity. We hardly ever get the chance to see a movie at a movie theater. The movie was cute, but certainly not as good as my all-time favorite movie Love Actually.

But anywho, that is not what this post is about.

While waiting in line to purchase some ridiculously over-priced refreshments, I noticed an advertisement promoting the notion of mixing M&M’s with popcorn.

I have never heard of doing this. I immediately nudged my husband and filled him in on this “new” phenomenon. He looked at me like I was an idiot and told me that I was “about 2 years behind” and that lots of people eat M&M’s mixed with popcorn.

Really? Where have I been?

I am apparently very out of the loop.

Side Note: I also nudged my husband during the movie to point out that Topher Grace has a very nice body (I also think he is just flat-out cute/attractive). I think of this proclamation as a sure-sign of our comfortable, humorous, loving relationship. Am I wrong? I think not.

  1. Holy moley can I just tell you the pure awesomeness of popping microwaved popcorn and throwing some M&Ms (regular, not peanut) in while the bag is still hot?

    As my wife says..."HEEEEAAAVEEEENNNN!!!!"

  4. See, now I skip the m&m's and go right for a candybar. I will stuff my face with popcorn then take a bite from the candybar.

    I have not heard of that either, but the sweet and salty thing makes sense. Tyler would be all OVER that!

    I just like my popcorn with a ton of butter.

  7. I only heard about this from a friend--she looked at me like I was out of my mind crazy. I've yet to try it, though.

    And I love Love Actually! One of my all time favorite movie ever!!

  11. Melissa- Allison and Dad would be very dissapointed in you. Allison shared this little snack with Dad at the movies years ago and Dad has been clogging his artries every since. They love this snack. Get with the movie theater snacking times. (They also have a variety of popcorn seasonings available that I love! Ranch, White Chedder, Butter... Yummy. And they're all virtually calorie free!)

  13. I honestly had NO IDEA. But then, I don't go to the movies often. However, I do mix M&Ms with Fritos, which is fantastic.

  14. I have never tried M&M's either. However, Milk Duds or Whoppers mixed with popcorn is the best!!

  15. I had no idea they were selling it this way, but a good friend of mine ALWAYS snuck some sort of chocolate into the theater (cheaper) to mix in our popcorn at the movies - way back in the 80's!!! Yum! (Oh no, just aged myself)
