As a child I remember 4th of July’s at the lake, hiding under a towel in the boat, covering my ears as the fireworks exploded in the sky. I hated it. I wanted them to end. It was too loud and too frightening.
I wish I could say that I have grown to enjoy and appreciate the festivities; however, I have not. I still abhor fireworks.
I am sure I am in the minority in this sentiment… but that’s alright.
But guess where I am going today?... the lake. Ridiculous, right? But that is where my family is and that is where I want to be (despite the ever-present presence of the fireworks).
During the show, I will most likely go inside where it isn’t so loud (I don’t mind the sight of the fireworks, it is just the noise - in fact, the fireworks themselves in the sky are rather amazing and beautiful).
