The other day, Hayden made himself a little fort using two ottomans/toy bins he has. After pulling them over to the couch and positioning them in such a way that he had erected two “walls” he began to empty out all the contents of the two containers (balls and “musical equipment”). Those items became the third wall… and the fourth wall was the couch.
During the building process, I asked him what he was doing… his response, “I’m working”. The whole scenario was precious… and it reminded me of myself.

I have always appreciated feeling the coziness of small spaces and “confinement”… not to the point where I feel suffocated or restricted… but just “close” and comfortable.
If you read my blog, you know I have issues with feeling restricted when it comes to cuddling so I’m not entirely sure why it is that I appreciate the enclosed nature of some spaces… but I do. For instance, I enjoyed living in a dorm in college. It was cozy. When living with a group of people, I intentionally chose the smallest room because I appreciated the small, quaint nature of the space. When I was little, I would erect little forts using my parents’ comforter in their bedroom while I watched cartoons on Saturday morning…. It was just such a comforting feeling. Very calming.
Anywho, so Hayden’s “fort building” reminds me of myself. Not a shocker being that he is my son.
So, I took some pictures of the “fort”. I’m not sure if they completely and accurately depict the scenario and the situation, but here are the pictures nevertheless.

Here we both are looking down on his fort... obviously, it was "coming apart' by this point as the ottoman "walls" are separate and not together.
Forts with xylophone walls are the BEST.
