hayden's first day of "school"

Today was Hayden's first day of "school" and he survived (as did I). Randy and I both dropped him off and he cried. That was tough. He was reaching for us and just in tears. Not a great moment. But we left and hoped he would be okay, and he was.

The director called me 45 minutes later (at 8:45 am), and let me know that Hayden was doing wonderful and was just fine. YAY!... I was worried when I saw 'First School' on the Caller ID, but I was relieved when it was good news.

I returned to pick him up at noon and the first thing he said was, "daddy?...". Um no... just mommy... I suppose he was okay with that because we left without incident. He apparently ate well and loved going outside as well as being strolled in the stroller... so all in all it was definitely a positive experience... we'll see how Thursday goes... I am not naive to think that it will be without tears but hopefully in time it will be less "dramatic" and he will be happy to go to school and "pay" (i.e., play)... I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on the situation.

Oh and I did take some pictures this morning to mark the historic day; however, I did not take any at the school... I think that would have been too much and too distracting... but here are some from this morning when I went to get him in his crib and from our ride to the school... enjoy!

update on me...

I thought I would update everyone on ‘me, my life, and how it’s going’. So… it is going good. I am in a much better place. Life just seems more enjoyable and I am able to appreciate things so much more… I want to thank all of you who sent me messages or posted comments on the blog… I appreciate the support and kind words so much. It really means a lot. It’s not fun to feel down, but knowing you have friends and family who are there for you and who care about you makes things much better. So thank you.

Alright, so what else have I been up to? Well, this upcoming Monday is my birthday. I will be 27.

I will also be having a root canal Monday. Not such a great birthday present. Actually a really poopy birthday present. I am not excited about it. I hate the dentist and people in my mouth. It freaks me out just thinking about it. They have prescribed me some medicine that is going to make me “compliant” and will make me forget the day. So I won’t even remember my own birthday!... I have decided that I am going to pretend that my birthday is some other day - maybe the 22nd - and I will celebrate it then. We’ll see…

Lets see… what else is going on… two of my good friends are pregnant. That is exciting. Congrats to Katrice and Katrina!... yay for you!

Hayden and I have been having a fun time on our playdates with Carolyn and Ella and Sarah and Elizabeth. I have made two really good friends in Carolyn and Sarah (and Hayden has as well with Ella and Elizabeth… he is quite the ladies man). I don’t know what I would do without these relationships… they have been extremely important to me and I value them immensely.

Next Tuesday (the 26th) Hayden starts “school”… well, a ‘Mother’s Day Out’ program. Two mornings a week (Tuesday and Thursday) from 8 am until noon he will go to First School. I think he is going to love it, as am I. It will give me some great mommy-time to take care of me and things I need to do.

Speaking of Hayden, he has been super sweet lately. Very charming and kind. I am learning more about him everyday, and I love that… he is such a great little man (most of the time) and I love it.

We had our ‘6th Annual Summer Celebration’ party yesterday. It was a blast. I am going to post a separate post about it with pictures… well, I think that is about it…
